How pickup works
When you choose to donate your motorcycle, our streamlined pickup process ensures a hassle-free experience. We utilize small flatbeds or trailers to pick up your motorcycle directly from your location. You don't need to worry about providing a key, as our team will carefully load your bike using strap tie-downs at the frame for a secure transport. We’ll coordinate with you to set a convenient pickup time, making the whole process as easy as possible. If your motorcycle is in storage, we can work with the facility to arrange the logistics without any added stress for you.
What drives donation value
The value of your motorcycle donation can be influenced by several factors. For vintage and classic bikes, an appraisal may be necessary to establish worth, particularly when it comes to IRS Form 8283 Section B. Harley-Davidson motorcycles tend to hold their value well, while Japanese cruisers generally depreciate at a slower rate. Sport bikes require careful evaluation based on their condition—those that are well-maintained can fetch a higher price compared to those with a rough history. Additionally, aftermarket parts can enhance or reduce the value of your motorcycle, so be sure to provide us with any relevant information when you donate.
Documentation you need
- Title of the motorcycle
- MSO for off-road bikes
- Service records, if available
- Appraisal for classic motorcycles
- Bill of Sale (if applicable)
Massachusetts specifics
In Massachusetts, the process of donating a motorcycle is straightforward, but there are a few specific state rules to be aware of. The DMV requires a clear title for the motorcycle to facilitate the transfer of ownership. In some cases, a bill of sale can also be used, especially if the motorcycle is older or has been in your possession for some time. Our team at Velocity Vehicle can assist you in understanding these requirements to ensure a smooth donation experience.
